15 Minute Study Break

It's almost 9:15 in the PM and I'm exhausted today. I've been studying for the last hour and it's time for a break. I've got my icecream, books, and laptop. Relax time....more like story time.
Today was my first day with my new autistic student. For a disorder that doesn't like loud sensory noises, it's loud. It's full of screaming, yelling, arm flailing verification of unhappiness---for lengthy periods of time. We made progress, slowly, surely, eventually. Soon, the screaming will shorten, the laughter will increase, and he'll be more comfortable with the schedule and routine. For anyone who wants to suggest---
Cue cards: fail. He hates them.
Music: loves it.
Circle time: hates it.
Reading aloud: momentarily stops screaming.
Centers: nope.
Outside: absolutely not.
Food: ahhaha you're kidding me right?
Communication: shuts the world out.
Being touched: you might as well just stop breathing.
Walking in line: tolerates it.
I've got my work cut out for me, but cheers to long hours of research and earplugs.
