Green House Garden Project 2014

Welcome to our Spring 2014 Class Project! We are growing a vegetable garden using milk jugs as green houses! As we grow, we will post pictures, tips, and all about our hard work.

Supplies
milk jugs
markers
scissors
gravel
soil
seeds
watering can (optional)
super excited kids!

Approximate Time: 12 weeks

March 5
First, gather as many milk jugs as humanly possible in one week....22 jugs is what we ended up with, but we only need 13 for now!

Next, we colored our jugs using washable markers and decided what vegetable we wanted to grow!

Then I cut the tops, but left them still connected to the bottom half, leaving approximately 2 inches uncut. The carrots, cucumbers, beans, and tomato jugs were cut closer to the top in order for the roots to have plenty of room!

The lettuce and spinach were cut closer to the bottom.

March 19
I finally got around to cutting all the tops of the green houses! The kids filled their bottom level with gravel and anxiously await planting their seeds.
Carrots!

Lettuce, Miss Hughes, lettuce!
Uhm, cucumbers.
